What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that leaves you with natural looking eyebrows. Using a disposable tool, I create realistic hair strokes on the upper layer of the skin that can last up to 12 months depending on the person’s lifestyle and health.

Microblading has been around for half a decade now, but advances in needle technology and changes in popular beauty styles has meant a massive increase in popularity over the last two to three years.

Benefits of Microblading

Microblading has many benefits, many of which you can see below:

Microblading is so natural looking, no one will know that the strokes created by the nano machine are not real.

Microblading restores your brows, framing your face and making you look younger.

Microblading saves you the hassle of pencilling in your brows daily.

The brow is designed for your face; it is not a one size fits all and will bring symmetry and balance to your natural features.

Microblading does not wash off in a downpour. Depending on the individual, it can even last up to 12 months.

Microblading mitigates the need to purchase brow kits, saving you precious money (and time).

How Much Does Microblading Cost?

Consultation: Free!

First Session: £205 (which includes the £50 deposit)

Top-Up: £90 (or £80 when purchased at the same time as the first session)

What’s the difference between Microblading and Nano Brows?

Microblading is not suitable for porous or oily skin. This is because the natural oils in the skin can blur the strokes, resulting in a solid looking brow. Strokes on porous skin tend to look jagged, bumpy and unrealistic.

To satisfy the demand for natural looking brows by clients with such skin types, machines with higher speeds and lower vibration capable of producing fine, crisp hair like strokes (Nano Brows) were developed. These machines look similar to those used for Powder Brows (and indeed can be used to create Powder Brows by decreasing the speed), but the superior motor gives the SPMU Artist ultimate control in creating realistic hairstrokes.

Due to the mechanical delivery of pigment into the skin, a higher pigment saturation can be achieved compared to the manual Microblading method, making Nano Brows last longer. The shorter life-span of Microblading however, does mean that you can try new styles of brow as beauty trends change.

What to Expect From Your Microblading Session

Every Microblading treatment is bespoke to the client, but there are some steps that are the same as other SPMU techniques, despite delivering very different brows. Once we have ruled out any allergies to the pigment and numbing used, and your medical form indicates that you eligible to receive amazing brows:

Step 1: I’ll turn up to your home at the time that best suits you

Step 2: We’ll cleanse your brow area and I’ll apply numbing cream to let it sit for 25-30 minutes

Step 3: Whilst you’re numbing and enjoying a little drink or snack, I will set up the treatment bed, sanitised equipment and disposable equipment

Step 4: After numbing, I will then work on creating the perfect brow shape for your face. This will be based on your face morphology and your preferences. This is the longest part of the treatment, as I have a great eye for detail and you have to be more than 100% happy with the proposed design and colour

Step 5: Once the shape and colour has been secured, I will unseal the single use gamma sterilised microblading tool and create perfect, crisp hairstrokes. You will be numbed throughout the process to ensure maximum comfort levels.

Step 6: All done! I’ll see you in 6 to 8 weeks when your brows are fully healed for your top-up.

Aftercare for Microbladed Eyebrows

The success of your Microblading depends very much on the aftercare you take. I will do my best to support you through your aftercare so that it’s as easy and painless as possible by:

  • Giving you a full aftercare sheet that clearly lists what you need to do over the next 7-10 day post-microblading.
  • Providing a high-performing healing serum that will speed up the healing process reducing the risk of infection and soothing the area.
  • Answering any queries or concerns you may have (within working hours).
  • Sending you a link to the relevant blog post here on the Sublime Beauty website as a refresher when required.

The Microblading Colour Boost Process

As semi-permanent makeup is designed to fade,  colour boosts are highly recommended to refresh the colour and shape before the brows disappear and you have to start again. Colour boosts can be done between 6 to 18 months depending on how dark you prefer your brows to be. Colour boosts cost less than the initial investment (around £105-£155) as they take less time to do with the shape already secured.

Microblading Frequently Asked Questions

Does Microblading Hurt?

Whoever you choose as your brow artist, please ensure that they are honest, and demonstrate in-depth knowledge in their field. You should never feel coerced to undergo a treatment, they must provide you with all the facts so that you can make an informed decision as to whether or not to go ahead with your Microblading treatment.

  • Microblading Training

I originally trained at Harley Street Microblading Academy, then moved to more advanced training at the Eclipse School of Beauty in all aspects of semi-permanent makeup. I have also achieved the highest industry standard qualification – VTCT level 4 in micropigmentation.

  • Practice makes perfect Microblading!

I’m passionate about giving women the eyebrows they have always wanted, so I practise daily and regularly invest in master courses to provide the best possible service to my clients.

An anaesthetic cream is applied to the eyebrow area for 25 to 30 minutes prior to the insertion of pigment to prevent any discomfort. Numbing cream is also applied during the process to maximise comfort levels. Microblading only works at the top most section of the skin in the junction between the epidermis and dermis. With correct use of numbing agents, the process may feel like light scratches on the skin, or you may feel nothing at all.

Is Microblading Safe?

Microblading performed by a fully qualified artist is completely safe. It will be performed to the highest hygiene standards following best practice methods. The hand tool used to create hair-like strokes is gamma sterilised and entirely disposable. Protective clothing such as masks, nitrile gloves and plastic aprons are worn by the artist throughout the process. I use high-quality pigments and as best practice dictates, a patch test will be completed prior to your treatment. This will determine if you are likely to have any adverse reaction to the microblading procedure.

Are You Really Allowed To Do Microblading At Home?

Yes! I am. In many places across the UK local councils don’t allow mobile microblading. I’m fortunate to offer mobile Microblading treatment in Bromley, Lewisham, Greenwich and Croydon which don’t currently have any restrictions on travel for this service. It’s definitely a good idea to check local rules when booking a beautician!

What Can I Expect After a Microblading Session?

Once your treatment is complete, I will give you aftercare advice to follow for the following 7 to 10 days. We will also book your 6 to 8 week top-up appointment which is required for any finishing touches or colour density adjustment.

You will not be able to wet the area for 7 days post treatment (or until the skin is fully healed). You may experience a slight swelling around the area which normally ceases within 24 hours.

It is normal for the eyebrows to be more intense in colour during the next few days. The colour will fade by approximately 30% during the first 5-10 days and can be adjusted during your top up session. See ‘Will My Semi Permanent Eyebrows Fade‘ for more information on this point.
