What’s the difference between Combo Brows and Microblading?
The small gaps between the microbladed hair strokes is what allows the Microblading technique to look most natural. However, clients who have very little or no natural hair in the area may prefer extra definition by shading in between these strokes. The amount of shading using the Powder Brow technique is determined by the client.

How Do I Prepare for my Combo Brow Session?
Before the treatment, you will need to:
- Perform the patch test (which I will send direct to you in good time) to rule out any allergies to pigment and numbing solution
- Complete a simple and quick online medical and consent form
- Secure your appointment with a £50 deposit
- Read and follow the treatment preparation guidelines
- Contact me immediately if you are feeling unwell. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required, but extenuating circumstances will be reviewed.

Every Combo Brow treatment is bespoke to the client, but there are some steps that are the same as other SPMU techniques, despite delivering very different brows. Once we have ruled out any allergies to the pigment and numbing used, and your medical form indicates that you eligible to receive amazing brows:

Aftercare for your new Combo Brows
The success of your Combo Brow depends very much on the aftercare you take. I will do my best to support you through your aftercare so that it’s as easy and painless as possible by:
- Giving you a full aftercare sheet that clearly lists what you need to do over the next 7-10 day post-Combo Brow.
- Providing a high-performing healing serum that will speed up the healing process, reducing the risk of infection and soothing the area.
- Answering any queries or concerns you may have (within working hours).
- Sending you a link to the relevant blog post here on the Sublime Beauty website as a refresher when required.
Do my Combo Brows Need a Colour Boost?
As semi-permanent makeup is designed to fade, colour boosts are highly recommended to refresh the colour and shape before the brows disappear and you have to start again. Colour boosts can be done between 6 to 18 months depending on how dark you prefer your brows to be. Colour boosts cost less than the initial investment (around £105-£155) as they take less time to do with the shape already secured.

My Combo Brow Training
I originally trained at Harley Street SPMU Academy, then moved to more advanced training at the Eclipse School of Beauty in all aspects of semi-permanent makeup. I have also achieved the highest industry standard qualification – VTCT level 4 in micropigmentation which included advanced combo brow technique.
Over lockdown, I undertook online courses to perfect my technique whilst my daughter sat next to me attending ‘virtual’ school sessions. Since then, I’ve been able to take courses both online and in-person depending on the certification requirements.

How Long do Combo Brows Last?
Depending on your aftercare, health and lifestyle, you can expect Combo Brows to last anything from 12 to 18 months. Yearly touch-ups are recommended to maintain shape and refresh the colour.
Which is better, Combo Brows or Ombre Brows?
Combo Brows are better for clients who have minimal brow hair as the Microblading technique used in the combo brow gives the illusion of natural hair follicles.
Are Combo Brows Better than Microblading?
Combo Brows are a blend of the Powder Brow and Microblading techniques that give the brow a more shaded look than Microblading alone. Microblading gives a more natural look but without the shading element of the Powder technique, won’t perform well on oily or porous skin.
Do Combo Brows Hurt?
With correct use of numbing agents, the process may feel like light scratches on the skin, or you may feel nothing at all. An anaesthetic cream is applied to the eyebrow area for 25 to 30 minutes prior to the insertion of pigment to prevent any discomfort. Numbing cream is also applied during the process to maximise comfort levels. Combo Brows are only placed at the topmost section of the skin in the junction between the epidermis and dermis. Don’t be surprised if you almost fall asleep during your session!
