What is Nano Brow?
The newest brow technique to hit the UK is Nano Brow. Also known as Digital Machine Hair Stroke Brows, this advanced treatment delivers a hyper-realistic 3D effect for the most natural appearance of hair strokes. Nano Brow is the answer for clients who are not suitable for Microblading, but want a realistic hair stroke look.
Benefits of Nano Brows
Nano brows started in the UK around 5 years ago and are becoming increasingly popular thanks to their many benefits, which include:
Nano Brow works on all skin types.
The Nano Brow technique produces minimal lymph fluid which dilutes pigment. This results in better pigment retention, and longer lasting results.
Nano Brows cause minimal trauma to the skin, making it less painful than Microblading.
Some clients even nap during the treatment!
The Nano Brow healing process is generally smoother as it does not involve ‘cutting’ the skin.
Due to better pigment retention this technique offers, the 6-8 week top up treatment time is significantly shortened, freeing up your day. Who doesn’t need more hours in the day right?
You will be the envy of all your friends, especially those who have had a painful SPMU experience. Nano Brow is a new specialist technique and not any salons offer this service. It requires hours of training to qualify, and daily practice to maintain perfect execution. Fortunately I love daily practice, it’s part of my mindfulness routine.
Not sure if Nano Brows are the right option for you? No problem! Get in touch with me today and we can talk through a tailor-made plan for your beautiful new brows.

What’s the difference between Nano Brows and Microblading?
Both techniques result in hyper realistic looking brows by creating each stroke individually. However, Microblading is performed using a hand tool with a series of super fine needles in a straight line configuration, making it a blade. This ‘blade’ is dipped into pigment and used to cut the skin to create a hair stroke. When done correctly, this manual process causes mild prick-like bleeding (when the blade meets the sweet spot of the skin). This is perfectly normal and is an indication that the artist is working at the correct depth. Some pre-numbing agents prevent bleeding making it harder for the artist to work at the right depth. With that said, it is not impossible to hit the sweet spot as some artists work successfully with pre-numbing the skin. The takeaway here is that the wiping, bleeding and release of lymph fluid (that happens when the skin is cut), can dilute the pigment and lead to poor retention. This means a longer than desired touch up treatment time and in some cases, the need for a third session.
In addition, Microblading is not suitable for everyone. Clients with oily or porous skin will find that the brow fades quickly at best, or the hairstrokes blur into a solid ‘makeup’ look brow.
This is where the Nano Brow comes to the rescue. Not only is it suitable for ALL skin types, but the hairstrokes are created with a digital machine injecting pigment precisely and without cutting the skin. This process causes less trauma to skin and therefore less bleeding and lymph fluid production. You can expect the pigment retention from the first session to be significantly better and the top up time to be considerably shorter compared to Microblading. And if that isn’t enough, less trauma means less pain and a smoother healing journey!

What to Expect From Your Nano Brow Session
Every Nano Brow treatment is bespoke to the client, but there are some steps that are the same as other SPMU techniques, despite delivering very different brows. Once we have ruled out any allergies to the pigment and numbing used, and your medical form indicates that you eligible to receive amazing brows:
Step 1: I’ll turn up to your home at the time that best suits you
Step 2: We’ll cleanse your brow area and I’ll apply numbing cream to let it sit for 25-30 minutes
Step 3: Whilst you’re numbing and enjoying a little drink or snack, I will set up the treatment bed, sanitised equipment and disposable equipment
Step 4: After numbing, I will then work on creating the perfect brow shape for your face. This will be based on your face morphology and your preferences. This is the longest part of the treatment, as I have a great eye for detail and you have to be more than 100% happy with the proposed design and colour
Step 5: Once the shape and colour has been secured, I will unseal the single use gamma sterilised cartridge needle and create perfect, crisp hairstrokes. You will be numbed throughout the process to ensure maximum comfort levels.
Step 6: All done! I’ll see you in 4 to 8 weeks when your brows are fully healed for your top-up.

Aftercare For Nano Brow
The success of your Nano Brow depends very much on the aftercare you take. I will do my best to support you through your aftercare so that it’s as easy and painless as possible by:
- Giving you a full aftercare sheet that clearly lists what you need to do over the next 7-10 day post-Nano Brow.
- Providing a high-performing healing serum that will speed up the healing process reducing the risk of infection and soothing the area.
- Answering any queries or concerns you may have (within working hours).
- Sending you a link to the relevant blog post here on the Sublime Beauty website as a refresher when required.
The Eyebrow Colour Boost Process
As semi-permanent makeup is designed to fade, colour boosts are highly recommended to refresh the colour and shape before the brows disappear and you have to start again. Colour boosts can be done between 6 to 18 months depending on how dark you prefer your brows to be. Colour boosts cost less than the initial investment (around £105-£155) as they take less time to do with the shape already secured.
About My Nano Brow Credentials
Whoever you choose as your brow artist, please ensure that they are honest, and demonstrate in-depth knowledge in their field. You should never feel coerced to undergo a treatment, they must provide you with all the facts so that you can make an informed decision as to whether or not to go ahead with your Nano Brow treatment.
- Nano Brow Training
I originally trained at Harley Street Microblading Academy, then moved to more advanced training at the Eclipse School of Beauty in all aspects of semi-permanent makeup. I have also achieved the highest industry standard qualification – VTCT level 4 in micropigmentation which included the Nano Brow technique. Over lock down, I undertook online courses to perfect my technique whilst my daughter sat next to me attending ‘virtual’ school sessions.
- Practice makes perfect Nano Brow!
I’m passionate about giving women the eyebrows they have always wanted, so I practise daily and regularly invest in master courses to provide the best possible service to my clients.

Nano Brow Frequently Asked Questions
What Are Nano Brows?
Nano Brow is a cosmetic tattoo that uses a digital machine to create hair-like strokes. This technique is suitable for all skin types and gives the client bespoke, hyper-realistic looking brows.
Question 2 How Long do Nano Brows Last?
As with all forms of SPMU, how long Nano Brows last depends on the client’s health, skin type, lifestyle, age and how well they look after the Nano Brow. As an example, young skin has a fast cell turnover of around 21 days. The cell turnover in mature skin is around every 50 days. You would therefore expect Nano Brows to last longer on mature skin compared to younger skin if the client is not affected by other factors mentioned above such as health issues.
Do Nano Brows Fade Completely?
Without colour boosting, Nano Brows will fade completely after 12-18 months (depending on the client’s health, lifestyle and age).
Do Nano Brows Heal Faster Than Microblading?
Yes. Microblading and Nano Brows impact the skin differently. Fully healed results can be seen around 6-8 weeks for Microblading and 4-5 weeks for Nano Brow.
